Role Summary:

We are currently recruiting for a Controls Technician position for our Mississauga branch. The main duties of this role will consist of assembling, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting electronic control systems used in fire and security applications through the installation of mechanical and electronic components and wiring into enclosures.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, wire, test, troubleshoot and repair large complex, standard and unique electrical and electronic equipment from BOM’s drawings, regulatory requirements, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Adjust, test, troubleshoot and repair selected products as directed by the manager.
  • Interconnect all assemblies using proper wire sizes to comply with written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Troubleshoot systems and replace or repair sub-assemblies as required.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current electronic technology as found in products manufactured or used in systems.
  • Maintain records or information logs as directed by the Business or manager and accurately complete all necessary paperwork pertaining to the movement of materials such as stock requisitions, part shipments etc.
  • Ensure that product and materials have undergone a proper allocation process prior to assembly.
  • Draw parts for projects being assembled.
  • Identify to the manager any repetitive defective products found.
  • Follow processes for troubleshooting and reporting defective products to the manufacturers.
  • Interconnect as necessary temporary or permanent test fixtures or harnesses required to test and troubleshoot assemblies.
  • Keep the immediate work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Keep all stock areas clean and ordered.
  • Observe all industrial and safety rules.
  • All other duties as directed by the manager.
  • Communications with field personnel and Configuration Team members regarding jobs as needed.
  • Responsible for verifying that projects are constructed to regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • College/University graduate from a recognized “Electronic Technician Program” or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in the electronics field or a related discipline
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot electronic equipment
  • Knowledge of industry regulatory documents is an asset

More about the position:

  • Use of hand tools and test equipment such as: meters, oscilloscopes, screwdrivers, wrenches, soldering irons, wire strippers, pliers, audio test equipment, and other specialized test equipment.
  • Use of computers for programming or manufacturing documentation including various software tools such as Excel, Word, text editors, and manufacturer controller configuration software.
