Project Overview

EG Group, one of the UK’s largest franchise operators of Starbucks, has worked with Chubb Fire & Security since 2005. Across 156 Starbucks drive-thru and roadside locations, Chubb has provided a comprehensive intruder alarm solution, encompassing design, installation, servicing, monitoring and maintenance.

The relationship began when EG Group was known as Euro Garages and has evolved into a trusted partnership over two decades. As EG Group has expanded its portfolio, Chubb has remained its go-to supplier for intruder alarm systems across its Starbucks brand.

Customer Needs

With sites located across the UK, often operating late into the evening, Starbucks stores require a reliable and responsive intruder detection system to safeguard staff, customers and premises. EG Group needed a security partner who could manage projects consistently across a growing portfolio, meet regulatory compliance and respond quickly to service needs and refurbishments.

Chubb was selected for its nationwide coverage, strong service culture and long-term reliability. Many of the engineers working on EG Group sites have supported the account for over 10 years, ensuring continuity and familiarity with each site’s unique layout and requirements.

Solution and Benefits

Over the years, Chubb has become a trusted partner for EG Group’s Starbucks locations, delivering a full-service approach to intruder protection. The scope of support spans initial site design through to ongoing service and maintenance, helping ensure consistent security across a wide range of store formats and geographies.

Key areas of service include:

  • Alarm system design and supply
  • Installation and commissioning of intruder alarms and panic buttons
  • Biannual planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Monitoring via Chubb’s Alarm Receiving Centre
  • Responsive call-out & service support.

All Starbucks sites under the EG Group umbrella are monitored remotely and panic buttons are installed both at tills and in back-office areas to support staff safety. As part of their franchise agreement, stores undergo scheduled refurbishments every five to 10 years. Chubb supports these projects by relocating or upgrading intruder alarm components in line with new shop layout.

Digital Upgrade Project

As part of the UK’s planned analogue network switch-off, Chubb is currently leading a major upgrade programme across all EG Group Starbucks sites, transitioning their intruder alarm signalling from PSTN lines to the latest digital network technology.

This significant undertaking involves upgrading more than 104 sites in under six weeks. Thanks to Chubb’s national engineer network and well-established working relationship with EG Group, the project is progressing to schedule and with minimal disruption to store operations. The proactive shift to digital ensures continued compliance and futureproofs the alarm systems for years to come.
