Chubb bolsters security at Southwark Coroner’s Court

Chubb has provided a timely and efficient security solution for Southwark Coroner’s Court allowing the court to continue to provide critical services during COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Chubb, a leading provider of security and fire safety solutions, installed a new, more secure alarm system that increased the number of registered users able to enter the building. This solution supported the UK government’s time sensitive track and trace measures. The problem Southwark Coroner’s Court historically managed access via system-generated user codes. This was administratively heavy with limited codes available. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the rules on the amount people who could be on site changed drastically. This meant that the same amount of people needed access, but they had to be spaced out so as not to come in close contact with one another. The solution Chubb supplied and fitted a fob-operated alarm system. The new system significantly increased the number of potential users from 30 to 168. The wireless solution provides added assurances regarding longevity and scalability. The fob-operated system further supported the security standards on site by providing stamped date and time status on each of the fobs. This data is uploaded to the on-site security system and can be viewed at the touch of a button. This is invaluable during a pandemic when you must be able to trace potential cross infection instances without delay. The payback period for the fob-operated alarm system can be as soon as nine months, making it highly cost-effective. Project summary Chubb worked diligently with the staff at Southwark Coroner’s Court, managing the installation smoothly and efficiently with no downtime. The client was particularly impressed with the flexibility offered by the new fob system. “The installation was carried out efficiently, with minimal disruption. The new system allowed for the function and flexibility needed in meeting the challenges encountered due to COVID-19,” said Gwen Gittens, Service Point Manager at Southwark Coroner’s Court.
