MANUAL CALL POINTS
The most easily-recognisable part of every fire alarm system – the manual call point – is the quickest way for a person to raise the alarm in the event of fire. The user presses the call point to either break a glass covering or trigger a re-settable element to sound the alarm.
Manual call points can be set to trigger a full range of sounders and bells [link], visual alarm devices [link] and notification [link] or emergency communication systems [link] – or, when used as part of a fully integrated system, they can be set to only trigger certain elements of the system to avoid disruption in case of a false alarm.
Manual call points should be easily accessible around your premises – particularly around entry and exit routes and staircases. They should be installed at a height of 1.4m and should be no more than 30m apart.
