HOLD-UP ALARMS

If staff are at risk in the workplace, hold-up alarms allow them to immediately and discretely send an alert with the touch of a button. Previously referred to as ‘personal attack alarms’, these can be used to directly contact another member of staff or trigger a police response. Chubb’s Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) is also available to monitor these alarm systems, taking rapid action in an emergency. These systems are sometimes referred to as panic alarms or duress alarms and are triggered by dual action buttons that, when pressed simultaneously, request an immediate police response.
The two-button system helps prevent false alarms. Chubb’s systems meet the police requirements to qualify for a unique reference number (URN) so that your premises can directly alert the police in the event of an emergency when otherwise unable to dial 999. These should only be utilised during robberies, hold-ups, or when an employee has been threatened with physical violence.
Unconfirmed hold-up alarms trigger an immediate response that doesn’t require the police. For example, contacting a manager or key holder. These can be in the form of fixed or wireless devices. Fixed hold-up alarms are installed on the premises and, when triggered, will alert any number of predetermined parties that can be set by you – including Chubb’s own Alarm Receiving Centre. It can also be used to sound a local alarm on command.
Wireless alarm fobs can be worn on lanyards, belts, or keychains for quick and easy access. These sorts of devices have multiple uses including for people with additional needs (such as elderly or disabled people) who might need assistance if they should fall down.
Chubb’s keyholder care response service is created to safeguard employees who work alone and may need security support. These are typically used if an employee responds to an alarm trigger at your premises. The employee will have an allotted timescale to register their safety on a mobile device. If they do not do this, a Chubb operator will contact them to check if they are safe and, if there is no answer, an emergency response will be immediately requested.
Each lone working employee will have a unique reference number (URN) associated with their mobile phone, with its own dedicated connection to Chubb’s Alarm Receiving Centre.
