South Ayrshire’s Transition From Analogue To Digital Cloud-based Cloud Care Control
By Chubb | 14th May 2025
South Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnership (HSCP) provides essential services to over 100,000 residents, focusing on improving health and wellbeing across the region. Faced with growing challenges in maintaining its analogue alarm systems, HSCP needed to upgrade to a digital solution that would help deliver telecare services to support vulnerable individuals in the community.
Customer Needs
The main issue was the lack of real-time failure detection. If an alarm unit or any of the peripherals stopped working, the HSCP wouldn’t receive any notifications through the analogue phoneline. It often took a customer incident to reveal that notifications were not working.
Following a procurement tender, Chubb provided its cloud-based platform, Cloud Care Control, to ensure a secure connection between the HSCP’s shared Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) and those in need of care and support.
Solution and Benefits
Cloud Care Control is a versatile, cloud-based platform designed to handle both digital and analogue alarms through Internet of Things (IoT) communication. It leverages cutting-edge Software as a Service (SaaS) technology and Next Generation Network (NGN) infrastructure to provide fast and efficient remote monitoring of personal alarms, ensuring help is available when it’s needed most.
The platform’s key features include instant alarm routing, real-time monitoring, and comprehensive tracking that follows each alerts from initiation to resolution. This enables faster response times and greater oversight for the care of vulnerable individuals.
Being able to work remotely has also been a major advantage for HSCP. Previously, staff relied on premise-based servers, meaning they had to be onsite to manage alarms. It also means staff are no longer tied to a specific location to deliver the service. If one building is inaccessible, staff can easily continue operations from elsewhere.
Seamless Integration and Innovation
Cloud Care Control is designed to integrate easily with both digital and analogue technologies from various manufacturers. Whether it’s pendants, wearable devices, or even voice-activated systems like Amazon Alexa, the platform supports a range of technologies, enhancing user interactions with video capabilities for face-to-face communication between service users and responders.
Chubb and HSCP created a specified installation team to focus on areas that could switch from analogue alarms to digital alarms as quickly as possible. Responders were given training on the new system as many of them are experienced in caregiving, but not technology. The digital transition also gave HSCP the opportunity to show its clients how much easier the system was to use, as the alarms could now be moved around the house for better placement.
For those needing assistance outside their homes, Cloud Care Control’s GPS tracking ensures responders can pinpoint their location quickly and accurately, providing peace of mind for users and their families.
