A thermal imaging camera (TIC) is indispensable – a vital tool that helps you quickly visualize your plan of attack, locate hot spots and save lives. Ideally, every fire truck and firefighter should have at least one high-performance TIC on hand. Since FLIR K-Series, proudly distributed by Chubb Australia, arrived on the scene, that’s more feasible.
Now available through Chubb, the FLIR range of K-Series thermal imaging cameras is specifically designed for use in firefighting. With a range of models, each more featured than the last, the FLIR range of cameras is sure to meet most requirements.
FLIR K1
The FLIR K1 is a rugged, compact thermal camera that serves as an extra set of eyes on the fire scene, allowing commanders, officers, and inspectors to quickly complete a 360° assessment in total darkness and through smoke. With a bright, integrated flashlight, the FLIR K1 illuminates the scene to help the user steer and manage the crew more effectively. It also displays 160 × 120 pixel thermal images that help users gain additional situation awareness that is not possible with the naked eye. The FLIR K1 is pocket-portable or attaches easily to a belt using the included pouch – making it easy to have on-hand for investigations around buildings, industrial settings, traffic accidents, wildland calls, or search and rescue activities.
FLIR K2
The FLIR K2 is a rugged, reliable, and extremely economical thermal imaging camera specially designed to help outfit more firefighters with the power to see through thick smoke and expedite decisions when seconds count.
The K2 uses FLIR’s patented MSX – Multi-spectral Dynamic Imaging – technology that embosses key details from the built-in visible camera onto thermal images, providing you with the extra perspective to help you stay oriented and safer while saving others.
FLIR K2’s compact design makes it light and easy to attach to turnouts. A single large button makes the camera simple to activate even with heavy gloves on. And the bright LCD and intuitive interface helps you start seeing your way through dark, smoky conditions immediately, so you can stay focused on the critical job in front of you.
Engineered to survive the tough operating conditions firefighters face out on the call, the K2 withstands a 2-meter drop onto concrete, is IP67 water resistant, and is fully operational up to +500°F/+260°C (up to 3 minutes).
FLIR K2 can be set to one of seven different thermal imaging modes depending on the primary emergency service that you’ll be using the camera for. Switch between them using FLIR Tools software that is available free of charge.
FLIR K33 and K53
The FLIR K33 and K53 offer two new lower-cost, easier-to-use options without sacrificing the reliable clarity and performance that FLIR K-Series TICs are well-known for. The K33 and K53 feature FLIR’s FSX™ Flexible Scene Enhancement that intensifies structural and textural details in thermal images for better perspective and orientation to help improve situational awareness and give firefighters a greater sense of confidence and safety.
Simple operation lets you stay focused on the job. A single, glove-friendly button gets you up and running. A squeeze of the trigger freezes a K33 image or captures K53 stills and videos for reviewing later.
A big, bright 4” LCD and on-board FSX digital processing enhances thermal image detail for greater visibility, making it easier for firefighters to find their way. 60Hz frame rate keeps up with the action.
FLIR K45, K55 and K65
The K65 is an advanced, feature-rich thermal imaging camera that is designed to be fully compliant with the National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA) 1801-2013 Standard for Thermal Imagers covering usability, image quality, and durability for firefighting.
FSX Flexible Scene Enhancement enhances K45, K55, and K65 thermal images through real-time digital processing inside the camera. The result is an ultra-sharp image that shows extraordinary structural, edge, and other instantly-recognizable detail. This helps make it much easier for firefighters and rescue teams to find their way through the smokiest, darkest environments, and to instantly identify targets in scenes with extreme temperature dynamics.
The maintenance-free uncooled microbolometer sensor produces detail-rich images at 320 x 240 pixels (K55 & K65) and 240 x 180 pixels (K45) Thermal images are displayed on a large bright 4” LCD, helping you navigate easier and make more efficient, accurate decisions.
